A longtime friend of mine and I were chatting and decided that our recent return to bachelorhood should be marked with a trip. A short winter getaway of sorts. We tossed around a few ideas and settled on Palm Springs, California. We also decided that we would throw in a roadtrip to Death Valley, a place I really wanted to return to after a very brief visit on The Great Road Trip of 2022.
We landed in LA March 16 just days after the last of several atmospheric rivers drenched coastal California and dumped metres of snow in the Sierra Nevadas. Even lower altitude mountains on our drive to Palm Springs had snow on them and there was water pooled in fields along the road. The mountains immediately around Palm Springs were strangely green – like something out of Ireland. The last time I was here was it was a blazing hot September in 2012 when the landscape was parched and seemingly devoid of life.

We spent the weekend exploring the city and its restaurants and enjoying what the All Worlds Resort had to offer.
Monday we jumped in the car and got on the road to Death Valley, about a 5 hour drive away where we spent 3 nights.

We took a quick ride out to Rhyolite NV and found some cool stuff.

We also made a trip to Joshua Tree National Park

Our last day we spent roaming around LA where we visited the Griffith Obervatory and the Central LA Public Library. Unfortunately the library just closed by the time we got there so we couldn’t go in.

Then it was off to the airport.

Thanks Matt for the videos!
